Evenity treatment and its effectiveness
Can those of you on Evenity tell me exactly how much improvement you have had and what, if any, side effects you have experienced. My doctor has recommended Evenity, and i am trying to make a decision. Thank you.

Hi @gretch19 what was your P1NP number after 4 rounds, if you don’t mind sharing? You listed CTX being 147 after 4 rounds. Did you get a Dexa at that time?
Thanks
The latest P1NP was 63. We have not repeated the Dexa since last year however I think we need to
Hi @gretch19
Sorry maybe my understanding was wrong. You wrote:
“My first round of markers before I started the treatment was a CTX of 514 and a P1NP of 63. After the four rounds, the CTX went down to 147 and the P1NP went down instead of up.”
Did P1NP stayed the same at 63 as the start of treatment?
Thanks
Sorry my bad. The first P1NP was 65.
Thank you @gretch19!
After initiating evenity, the P1NP is said to have a peak value at week 2, and return close to baseline after 3 mo when compared to placebo group (no drug treatment). So you might not catch the P1NP increase.
This drug is power in promoting bone growth. Sometimes a doctor would like to use bone markers to monitor preliminary response. If for some reason there are timing or test reliability issues, the Dexa scan will be the gold standard for the “judgement” at the end of treatment. So we all need to be patient and wait for the Dexa results.
All the best!
Forgot to mention that evenity is powerful because its dual action. Although you didn't see or 'catch' p1np increase, the decrease in ctx is significant and that will aid in the bone building process. I think you are more than likely doing just wonderful.
That’s encouraging
I will be getting my first Evenity treatment tomorrow. Please tell me what to expect. What are the injections like and how long does it take to inject? And the needles … size? Is this a very painful process? Am so nervous.
Easy, breezy. A bit of needle
Prick on each side. Just make sure that you confirm that they have warmed it up a bit before and you can ask them to inject slowly if needed. You will learn what is best for you. Everyone is different of course but I have had no noticable side effects. Good luck and tell us how it goes.
Hello @susanew. I combined your discussion with an existing discussion titled, "Evenity treatment and its effectiveness" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/evenity-effectiveness/.
@sandrajhunt, @susanfalcon52 and @hikernurse have all shared their experiences with starting Evenity and may also be able to share what the actual injection process is like as well.
@susanew - starting a new medication is always a stressful process. Have you had open discussions with your provider about the particular things you are nervous about or a list of concerns about certain side effects and how to handle or report them?
