I had an entire thyroidectomy several years ago and never felt like myself even on high dose synthroid. I like you didn’t feel my endocrinologist was listening as they were only interested in the fact my TSH was low enough not to stimulate any remaining thyroid tissue. I never felt right until another doctor started me on NP thyroid in addition to the synthroid. I wish you luck it is a miserable time until you get back to feeling normal.

I had thyroid surgery several months ago, and have not felt any ill effects other than scar on my neck. In the next month they will run blood tests and I'll find out if I need to start taking any meds.

Hello! Sorry I saw your reply. Were you in NP with the Synthroid or just by itself? I have been on Synthroid since last year and I feel like I have gained weight and my workout performance has decreased.

NP has both T3 and T4. I feel much better on NP and synthroid. Synthroid only has T4.

Welcome, @livi05. Calibrating the right dosage of thyroid medication is a journey. Have you talked to your endocrinologist about your weight and workout performance? What kind of workouts do you do?

I am 6 days postop TT (total thyroidectomy) papillary. Have been given 100mg Levothyroxine daily. Feeling terribly dizzy after taking med. Absolutely no appetite and losing weight. Blurry vision, sweating and terrible insomnia. Has anyone experienced this? I see my GP tomorrow for follow up.

So sorry to hear. Hang in there. You do need a synthetic hormone, forever. Hopefully the medical team will figure out the reason you are having these symptoms.
I was fine, except sore throat after my TT. I also had neck dissection for 2 lymph nodes.
You should be informed of the extent of the surgery. Sometimes with a TT, they also excise lymph nodes and more. Review your post op report before you meet with the doctor.
