Walking sticks vs. canes - which is better?
HAs anyone used a walking stick instead of a cane while recovering from numerous hip surgeries? My shoulder aches when I walk having to use the cane for support and balance.

Forearm crutches
Yes, the walking stick in the right hand and the dog leash in the left!
Hazel (55 lbs.) has learned that two taps of the stick mean a treat is coming. This has helped avoid catastrophe when a herd of deer come out of the woods, and keeps her from trying to chase fast cars. "Redirection of attention!"
The stick has also kept me upright when an out-of-control great dane jumped us, pulling down its owner.
Thanks!
