Share results of PRP knee injection therapy.
My allergies disqualify me from any type of knee replacement device.
My next step is PRP injection therapy, which is expensive and Medicare doesn't cover the cost at all. If you have had this treatment I would appreciate your results- good or bad.

Well I paid out of pocket so congrats Helped my right knee immensely not my left which was far worse since I’ve had MFAT this is where they liposuction, fat cell and inject that into your knee. Also, out-of-pocket much more expensive. I had it done six months ago and I’m thrilled to death so I wish insurance would pay but oh well at least I could afford it.
Perhaps the VA covers it, but not Medicare since you had the procedure done in a VA hospital?
My husband has both VA and Medicare. It is my understanding since he has Medicare the VA bill Medicare.
I called Medicare before having the PRP. They told me that Medicare covered PRP. I called the VA and was told my PRP was covered by Medicare, and it was. Joe Galiardi
Helpful information. Thanks.
I give up!
please expain me what is PRP and how it works,My wife cannot getup from Couch, her knee is so bad.
PRP is platelet rich plasma. The doctor takes blood and spins it to concentrate platelets and the injects it back into the joint(s). It tends to work best when tightening of soft tissues is needed, I have been told. Imaging is required first for that reason- to make sure it is an appropriate treatment with likelihood of working. You pay out of pocket ($1,000+) because insurance considers it experimental even though it is recommended and practiced by mainstream and top hospitals and doctors.
Has your wife seen doctors? PT? Had imaging?
also great for growing hair for women.
No way!! I’ve paid for it three times out of pocket. That is good to know if I should ever do it again. I’d call and doublecheck, but I doubt if it matters what state one lives in
