Posted by Wade @przngard, Mar 22 5:49am

I've been suffering from What my Dr tells me is A form of Neuropathy whereby my feet are Numb almost on a constant basis daily, I feel I'm stepping on lit cigarettes also when walking an when I do walk my feet hurt terribly to the point it's painful to apply any weight I e been told there's no help, relief ?? I currently take Lyrica but it really doesn't help much at all? I'm anticipating a Right shoulder surgery as of this posting date but my feet pain is much more debilitating than my Deformed right Arm!!

@przngard ,
That sounds very painful. I hope you get some helpful responses. I don’t know much about it. I had similar symptoms due to what I initially thought was my type 1 diabetes. After tests, it was determined that it wasn’t neuropathy. I do relate to the numbness. I still have a but if that, but my burning went away.

Have you tried Gabapentin? A lot of people seem to take that for neuropathy pain. I tried it, but it caused me vision issues. Can you consult with a neurologist?

@przngard, Sorry to hear you are having pain in your feet when walking or putting weight on the feet. I have the neuropathy numbness in the feet but no pain. There are a couple of other discussions you might want to read through to learn what others have shared.

I have peripheral neuropathy due to 2 failed back surgeries from 2 bad surgeons. I have had this for over 10 yrs. Had a spinal stimulator with some help with pain. I now have pain and burning in my feet. It hurts to wear shoes and socks as it makes my feet go numb. I can't stand any pressure on my ankles. What type of shoes have been successful with neuropathy. I have very bad burning pain and numbness when I wear shoes.

@marquis113 There is another neuropathy discussion about shoes you might find helpful.

Hello,
I'm sorry you are in such pain and discomfort. I also have non diabetic p/neuropathy in my feet. I have pain and burning but no numbness. I get good relief with 600-900mg of gabapentin. I have a hard time functioning on that drug so don't use it unless really bad. I get best results putting my feet on an icepack and sleeping with my feet off the edge of the bed. I also started taking a supplement for tinnitus(Lipo-Flavonoid) and when I did I noticed an improvement in my neuropathy. My doctor looked at the ingredients and said it was probably the B vitamins,as there is known to be a correlation between low B counts and neuropathy. I pray you get some relief.

I suffer from Idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy in both feet and legs up to my knees. I too have numbness in both my legs and my feet. When I walk I have a burning, pins and needles, walking on a bed of coals and a bed of nails feeling on the bottoms of my feet. I’ve suffered from this for 19 yrs come April 7th. We have tried a combination of meds to see which ones helped and which ones didn’t. I’ve been taking my current meds for 10 yrs now and they do help. They don’t take the pain completely away, but keep it low enough ( 4-5) to be bearable and give me quality of life. We tried Lyrica, but I had trouble with my vision at night to a point that I couldn’t drive. I had been on Gabapentin and Lamictal for Depression so we kept them and added Naproxen Sodium and Tramadol. That combination at the right doses works. At the end of the day if I’ve been on my feet too much or did too much walking, they really hurt-throbbing. I know my feet are going to hurt, but I’m not going to just sit in my recliner with my feet elevated just to keep the pain down. I’ll be active at 70 yrs old and enjoy the grandkids by going to their school events or spend time babysitting them while they’re young before they get too old to need me to watch them.
