Ongoing Stiff Neck et al
I have have had a nagging stiff neck, eustachian tube popping, and dulled left-ear hearing for about 4 months. No help after visits to ENT, Orthopedic doc, and physical therapist. I am wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and what the outcome was. Thanks.

Thank you very much.
Hi all , i too suffer from stiff and painful neck issues . I'm assuming its arthritis since i have it in other body parts . My neck gets so sore after even a short time turning to speak to someone . Also the ear pain and nightly sore side of face and jaw area when sleeping on it . It wakes me up and i have to switch sides . I get pain up the back of my head when reading in bed as well as watching tv too long or using my devices . So far extra strength tylenol has been working for me . Going for a bone density scan next month .
@hobbity An evaluation with a physical therapist may help figure out the issues. Spine problems can cause muscle spasms that shift the spine and jaw, and all of that is tied to neck and shoulder muscles. I have had issues like this. I am a cervical spine surgery patient and have a condition called thoracic outlet syndrome. When my jaw gets tight and unbalanced, it does cause facial pain by compressing a nerve. Talk to your doctor too. Physical therapy may be able to help.

I do have TMJ also but there is cord compression in my cervical area and some radiculopathy, the doc says. Thank you so much for the prayers.
might want to give cranio-sacral therapy a go.

Also, make sure you have an excellent pillow for sleep and also optimal positioning of neck while sleeping
very sorry about the problems
take care now
A cervical spine xray and perhaps an MRI of neck would be helpful, as disc degeneration and arthritis are extremely common in the neck. An anti inflammatory medication might help as well as heat. The eustachian tube dysfunction should respond to an antihistamine/decongestant and possibly nasal steroid spray like fluticasone, as that is typically caused by allergies. Both are OTC. If you have ear pain there could be infection. I hope these suggestions help!
I had cervical x-ray, no problem there. Fluticasone did not help. Currently trying heat and Motrin. Will try decongestant for eustachian tube. Thanks.
