Help my mom can’t do anything after prolia shot

Can someone PLEASE HELP & give me advice?? My mom has always been active in 70’s walking 3 miles daily and got around GREAT but diagnosed w/ Osteoporosis. She still kept walking fine & was just careful. Her doc convinced her to get the prolia shot and hasn’t been able to function or even get out of chair hardly. She can’t get out of bathtub without struggling for awhile. She’s in soooo much constant pain & hasn’t slept hardly any in 3 months. THIS IS NOT HER! She always had perfect health (nothing broken, no surgery, nothing) & this shot has destroyed her. Terrible joint pain & she can’t even function. Heavy chest/panic attacks, It’s ruining her life. The pain doesn’t even ease up in her body. She can barely get in/out of bed. She was sooo strong before this shot! Doc said other patients had success with it and it couldn’t be the shot 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Now I found about 100 horrible reviews online like this but couple years old & no one answered me. Her office called and cancelled her next appointment because they said her doc left the state & they can’t get new one in for her that day & will call back when they can get her in! That was weeks ago. We call & call to see if any updates/cancellation but nothing.. We live in WV so not many docs here & all seem clueless. Can anyone PLEASE help her & advise what to do? Pain pills aren’t helping & she’s going to destroy her stomach w/ them, she’s in so much pain. She shakes all over, Hospitals send her home. The doc says try something new but she goes home & NOTHING HELPS. We have no docs here who have any understanding of this. PLEASE tell me how to help her. She’s in constant misery & she’s toughest person I know. I’ve never seen her sick until now 😫🙏❤️ she’s in 70’s—how much longer will she hurt? It’s been weeks. Prob 3 miserable months. She said she’d rather be dead than get this shot again. I’m really scared guys. She never complains of pain until this. Thx in advance for any input. I can’t get her off heating pad & she has burns but don’t care she’s so miserable 🥲 I’m so scared.

@rashida

@sbcher how do you use the wild yam cream?

You are fortunate to find a medical doctor who is open to alternative medicine. In Canada naturopathic remedies are not supported by our government health plan or medical doctors. Big pharmaceutical companies and the government seem hand in glove.

Hi, well I just started using it. Use twice a day for 3 weeks. Off one week. You can watch Barbara O'Neill on You Tube. Osteoporosis. Everything is worth a try.

Sandrac, may I ask what your procedure/steps were to go off Prolia? I’ve been on it for 6 years with no major problems, just some pain in my arm after the injection.

My endocrinologist followed it with a single RECLAST infusion ( lasts for a year) to preserve what I gained on Prolia. It is standard of care to follow Prolia with Reclast or a similar drug for a year.

Thank you, I’ll talk with my endocrinologist about doing that. How long ago did you go off Prolia? No problems?

Went off Prolia February 2022. Reclast Infusion March 2022. One year drug “holiday for 2023. Due to a bad fall down stairs and fracture ( which both Ortho and endo said was not necessarily from fragility, but because of the height of the fall) started on Evenity in March 2024 because it helps build new bone. Prolia and Reclast preserve bone. I will follow the one year of Evenity with another year of Prolia to keep gains from Evenity. I have, fortunately, had no ill effects from any of the drugs and all have helped improvement in bones.

I completely understand as the same thing happened to me after 1st dose of Prolia. I spent 3 months doing nothing but sitting in my recliner. Every time I changed position in bed the pain woke me up. The thigh pain was the worst of all which made walking extremely painful. I was 73 when I had the first dose. I am also a retired nurse. I subscribe to updates from the FDA and got a notice that Lyrica was now approved for Fibromyalgia. I thought well that's not what I have, but close. I had some Lyrica left over from a surgery with nerve pain so I thought WhyNot? I took one before bed, slept all night, stood right up and walked without pain in the morning. I could bend over to lift the toilet lid without pain and cleaned the whole house after taking another morning dose of Lyrica. My doctor upon hearing my story has prescribed it routinely. If your mother's insurance won't cover Lyrica the second closest drug would be Gabapentin. Good luck!

I have questions for all of you who have gone off Prolia. I am wondering if your endocrinologist has ordered CTX tests or indicated their willingness to order CTX test for you while going off Prolia. If so how often and at what point of going off. Another question did any of the endocrinologists ordered bone turn over markers before even starting any type of treatment. Like Sandrac I wondering what steps or procedures were followed before and after going off of Prolia. Thank you. Looking for your replies
