about to begin Evenity and nervous about side effects

Hello!
I am a 65 yo healthy, active woman with osteoporosis. I had been on fosamax for nearly 5 years and a recent bone density showed that it is no longer effective. I have bone loss in my spine and hip. Evenity is recommended and approved by insurance.
I am very nervous about side effects and prescription meds in general, but don't want to break any bones. I trust my doctors, but am still apprehensive as this is a fairly new med and the side effects are scary! Can anyone share their experience with this med?
Thank you and good health to all

I agree. I just had my 9th Evenity and have had no side effects. I had my first injections in my arms and had a fair amount of soreness (and I have a high pain tolerance). I asked for the injections in my abdomen the 2nd time with very, very minimal discomfort. So I've had 3rd-9th in abdomen with absolutely no problem and I haven't had any side effects.
Looking forward to seeing how effective Evenity has been when I have my DEXA. Then I'll be in the same boat transferring my Evenity anxiety to whatever my doctor suggests as the next step.

Hello!
I’d like to share my experience with Evenity injections. I have severe osteoporosis and have just completed my 12th and final injection with NO awful side effects whatsoever. The only thing I would mention is that a couple days after the first 2 or 3 injections I felt kind of “blah” for one day but that is it. The next day I was fine. I see my Endocrinologist in a couple weeks to discuss further treatment plans. I’m anxious to see what my next DEXA scan looks like. I wish you the best of luck in your osteoporosis treatment. As everyone agrees, each person’s journey is personal and can vary. I felt like keeping a positive attitude and believing in the treatment was the proper approach to Evenity for me. Thank you.

Kallettla, I also hope for you that all goes well as you begin your Evenity injections. And that you have no side effects and very minimal discomfort. May you anxiety diminish, too.

I definitely will try to remember what thread this is 😊 so I’ll update after my Dexa Scan—when my Dr orders it after my 12th Evenity. I’ll ask her next month at my appointment.

Evinity has been recommended by my osteopath after healing from a broken arm during a bicycle crash. I am 71 years old, do yoga regularly, and have been pretty active all my life. My DEXA score was -3. I am currently taking generic Drisdol 50,000 units capsule once a week and have been taking this for at least 10 years. I have always been scared of taking new drugs since I watched Dopesick on Netflix. I’m wary of starting this drug because, well, you’ve read about the side effects, and I just am concerned about the lasting effects for the future. My mom suffered from osteoporosis and at age 81 broke her hip by simply sitting down on a bed. I don’t want to have any more broken bones. For those of you who have finished or are in the process of finishing the treatment, what are your personal recommendations or warnings? I would feel better if I had some information from real women who have been through this.

eugenia,
I have had ten doses of Evenity with no problems.
The first injections made me really tired the day after.
After that - no side effects.
Clearly, the reactions to Evenity are very personal. While I have had an easy time with the drug, others have not.
windyshores has posted on here about her experience with Evenity which hasn’t been so easy.

I'm starting Evenity this week. Has or does anyone know of someone having any heart issues after starting Evenity? It's a side effect but I've haven't seen any comments pertaining to heart?
