Total Hip Replacement - 7 weeks out - feel like I am sitting on a golf
Has anyone had the feeling of sitting on a golf ball after THR? It has been like this for weeks. It does not hurt, but I can't sit for more than 20 minutes. It is uncomfortable! Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this sensation and if it (hopefully) goes away.

I meant sitting on a golf ball.
Hi there. I’m 17 weeks into THR and yes I still have this feeling. Doctors say it’s normal!! I’m seeing my consultant on the 1st November and have lots of questions.
I’ve got hip bursitis now and it’s so painful.
Hopefully the golf ball feeling will improve. I try and ignore it, but I do need to know all is well.
Good kuck
Hmm, I had some discomfort during recoveries from 5 THR & revision surgeries, but not that.
I would suggest a consult with the doc, and maybe ask for some PT sessions to stretch things out.

Hello, I have had that feeling but it started with my fall that resulted in a THR.! I was diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia. It is a rare complication with THR. Google it for more information. I pray that is not what it is because it is terrible to endure. I had 4 stem cell procedures and pelvic therapy and it eventually went away. Also, I hate to hear you have bursitis as well! I did also and my turned out to be a torn gluteus minimus tendon which can also be a complication of the surgery or just caused by overuse (maybe injured in PT??) Or deterioration of tendon. Only a MARS MRI can diagnose this. It took a long time to get my Dr to do the MRI. I suggest you ask for one ASAP. They will want to do steroid injections for bursitis but that just weakens tendons more. However, I think insurance requires this conservative measure. God Bless you! I know you are enduring pain.
Hi, I am so sorry about your bursitis, that sounds so painful and annoying. I hope that it gets better soon. I was told two weeks out from THR that the feeling of sitting on a ball is normal. The sensation makes me want to crawl out of my skin! I hope you get your questions answered at your appointment. I know you want to know that everything is okay.
Sorry to hear this. I must be one of the lucky ones. 1 1/2years out and never any problems or pain. I am sure it will get better with time. Take care wishing you the best.
I also had a huge tear of my gluteus medius tendon a year after I had a THR. I tripped once and must have twisted my hip. Lots of pain and had it fixed. What difference that made. Zero discomfort now. It’s always good to hear someone else has the same problem.
Did you have anterior or posterior? I had anterior and although it took me 3 months to be pain free (I don’t even notice it now), I never had that sensation. Before the surgery I also had bursitis in the same hip and knock on wood, that seems to be gone.
It has been 6 months for me and I can still feel it. Insisted on another X-ray and everything appears in place. I do have a bad knee which they tell me is contributing to my hip recovery.
