What issues arise with knee replacement surgery when one has osteopenia/porosis.

Hi @tomg, and welcome to Connect. Great question regarding knee replacement surgery with osteopenia or osteoporosis. I'm including the link to another discussion on preparation and recovery for a knee replacement procedure (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/im-having-knee-replacement-l-on-june-20th-any-suggestions-on-how/). There are several members in here who you may be able to connect with, including @niazumbanut.

Have you and your physician talked about this procedure? What's prompted these conversations?

Hi @tomg - if you are considering a knee replacement, it's important to ask lots of questions and work closely with your doctor. That's the best way to figure out your options, learn about to expect, and make a decision that's right for you. That being said, here are some questions you might want to go over with your doc to kick off the conversation, including asking about recovery after surgery and issues that may arise;
