How many Long Term Studies over a year on OPIOID USE??

I am now free after 23 years of prescription opioid use. With peripheral neuropathy in hands and feet, and spinal stenosis, I am suffering severe full body hyperalgesia. I get around as best as I can,
I am an 80 year old woman, my mind is sharp as can be. My doc's all know nothing about hyperalgesia. Even my very good neurologist. I thinl it's too new for the research to be active.
Its invisible to my friends and colleagues. It's awful, as I feel like I'm living this double reality. I've seen no mention of hyperalgesia on this entire site. Somebody? It's lonely!

Oh gosh, my Mayo doctor says I have it because I'm on opioids and he's wrong. So he's taking me off one of my meds and making my life hell. There is a reason I'm taking them. If it's not broke don't fix it! So that's interesting you have this after going off opioids.

I believe having full body hyperesthesia as your only symptom may be unrelated to CRPS but sounds more like Central Sensitization? Please read aboit both. Both are symptoms, not diagnoses. Localized Hyperalgesia is among the initial symptoms of localized CRPS tho we can certainly experience spreads and even full body spreads. But there are other symptoms as well required for this diagnosis.

Central sensitization is a problem with the brain/pain feedback loop where everything, any touch, feels painful even tho there is no medical reasons for the pain. Its in fact referred to as "brain pain." CS can be part of CRPS after time as well as other chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. Maybe if you begin to see your hyperalgia as a symptom, you and some specialist drs can begin to find out why? The why might be treatable? There are currently no direct curative treatments for fibro and CRPS. Did it begin after a trauma to your body?
