Your white count is sky high? Have the docs commented on that?
So I offer a maybe useful parallel for a gut check. .
A few years ago my son had an artificial disc put into his cervixal spine. Seemed to be going ok and then the next thing I knew he was in the hospital with bad infection and so much strong antibiotics he was having allergic reactions - couldn’t swallow effectively because throat was closing and his lips and fingers started to swell. They took him into surgery to potentially take everything apart - and learned that the artificial disc was coated with infection. And because it had no blood supply, we could have given him bigger and badder antibiotics until the world ended and it wouldn’t have done a thing. SO… they washed it with antiseptic and some kind of synthetic scrubber. And rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. They closed him up and waited. The infection on soft tissue started responding to the antibiotics. He went home with a port to infuse the antibiotics for a month. But he lived to tell the tale.
Just wondering if the ball in your new hip joint could be a culprit?
So sorry
I know you must be so frustrated
PT doesn’t help either I guess
Are you still swollen?
I got compression socks with a zipper and they help tremendously
I agree that maybe you have an infection on the apparatus
I have hip revision and got severe bacterial infection on the actual hip replacement
It took months to get rid of it and I still take antibiotics
Isn’t high white blood count a sign of infection ?
That's what I think bit dr say they don't know would a CT or mri show this
They also say if it is infection that's bad they cut again take out hip I would have antibiotics straps put in until infection is gone could be in hospital for months don't know if there protecting there self or what I just want answers my lawyer friend is the one suggesting call mayo I'm going to call I live in mo don't really want to go there to see a Dr don't know if maybe I could authorize them to look thru all my test maybe they would see something my Dr's aren't seeing
They won’t see it without opening it but they don’t have to take everything out. They will literally be able to see the bacteria - particularly on stainless components in the apparatus.
My response would Be if it’s infection and they don’t open it up to wash with antibiotics that will be worse. Ask if you can get an infectious disease consult and ask him-her if the apparatus or part of it has infection slime on it,’how will you know that if you don’t go in And look.
Why don’t you want to go to mayo.
Thank you for info I'm going to message my ortho they did say something about seeing an infectious dr but I haven't I live in st louis mo don't have the $ to come to Minneapolis
Well there’s an infectious disease doc in St Louis I guarantee
Where’s the surgeon who did your hip?
He is in st louis mercy ssm someone mentioned an infectious disease dr but I have never seen one YET
Did the bone scan or MRI show anything? Indolent ( slowly developing infection can cause these symptoms.
Ask for a bone scan and maybe ask for referral to an infectious disease MD specialist.
