Elevated alkaline phosphate levels
I am a newbie here and look forward to reading the posts. I am interested in knowing if any of you have elevated alkaline phosphate levels because of your osteoporosis. I look forward to any response.

Well, I add a mistake on my very first post!! ! My topic and question should have been worded alkaline phosphatase levels NOT phosphate alkaline.
I have osteoporosis and Chronic Kidney disease. My ALP test results are in the normal range. There are so many variables in every person’s health conditions and the medications they take. It is a puzzle to figure out the cause and effect of things going on in our bodies that show up in our blood test results.
I wish you good luck in finding the answer to your question.
I am not an expert but my ALP increased after I stated taking Tymlos, which the bone clinic tested for bcause it is pretty common. However, increased levels can be associated with both bone building and bone breakdown, so it is hard to know exactly what increased levels mean.

I have an increased ALP (but I do not take yet medicines for osteoporosis) and doctors could not understand why as their idea was that I had a problem with liver. I read a literature and it seems that elevated ALP is common in osteoporotic patients (as I am). But I also met the opinion that the level of ALP can serve as biomarker for evaluating of the efficacy of medicines for osteoporosis. Here you can read:

Thank you for citing the article. I found it interesting. The elevation in my ALP was not unexpected and may be a good sign since I am supposedly growing new bone with treatment. If you are not growing new bone, it is likely a sign of bone breakdown. At age 73, I would not be growing appreciable new bone without medication. My ALT was not elevated, but my AST was and my doctor does not see a reason to think it is related to the medication I am taking. However, it has increased at the same time and at a similar rate since I started Tymlos after having been stable for 25 years.

I agree with your opinion that elevation of ALP can be a sign of growing bone as a result of Tamlos. Good luck!
