Total knee replacement
I, had a total knee replacement a year ago. The, knee is hurting and red. I, don’t have an infection in the joint. This, pain is hard to deal with! I, am going to have a second opinion. Hope, this will help me.

I had a total knee replacement 17 days ago.
I have horrible bruising down my leg to my ankles with pain when in my ankle whe n I take a step , is this normal?
Pickett66 Second opinion are always good … saved me a lot pain ….hope you get some answers meanwhile keep moving best you can so does not stiffen up on you ….
Robin the bruising some of us have it worse than others …. I was same way my first tkr …. Your pt can use kt tape took my bruising away very quickly…..17 days yes it’s painful for each step yes takes time ….. it gets better each day just keep moving
17 days isn't very long after a TKR. Hopefully you are doing the exercises 3x daily that were provided by a PT.
One thing to note, a tourniquet is placed around the thigh during surgery to slow blood flow to the knee. My inner thigh turned red after 2 or 3 days from bruising from the tourniquet. This is normal and should not be painful.
Not so sure about the ankle pain. It may just be due to the fact that your walking gait is affected from the TKR. Do the exercises no matter what and things should start to get a little better everyday, as ezas has noted.
All the best!
Yes, indeed. Go for a second opinion.
I did go for a second opinion and even a third.... I am 5 years out from TKR. Still having pain, poor
flexion, swollen etc. I walk 2 miles a day, did 3 sessions of PT, am thin, and now am hearing Knee manipulation to break-up scar tissue: MUA yikes!!!!
