I have loss of feeling in my feet and tingling sensation. My doctor prescribed gabapentin. I read the side effects and decided not to take this med.

I took gabapentin for about one year for my CIDP. It did not help me to sleep at night (tingling in feet). I am now taking CBD gummies and am getting a better nights sleep
When I wake up with burning in my heel, I take only 600 mg of Gabapentin. It helps me get back to sleep.
I am allergic to it. My throat swells closed and it triggers my asthma.
Gabapentin has been known to cause memory problems in some people. My girlfriend had MS and she could not remember hardly anything. I told her what it was and she quit. She was amazed at the difference. I can’t take Baclofen it makes me feel like I have the flu. I like it as a muscle relaxer but just can’t tolerate it.
My doctor puts it in a pain cream for me. Along with some other medications I can’t take.
Prescription
Pain cream
2% Bacflofen
6% gabapentin
10% ketamine HCL
2% cyclobenzaprine
10% Diclofenac Sodium
2.5% tetracaine HCL
25% propylene
10% lipoderm
It has a long lasting lidocaine in it.
I tried gabapentin and it did not work for me and I had bad side effects. I have small fiber neuropathy and amitriptyline is the only thing that has helped so far.
I use citalopram for small fiber neuropathy. Have used it for years. It takes the edge off.
Not everyone will have side effects , some people it helps but for me I had hallucinations and was talking crazy. I was in the hospital when they started me on it. My Daughter came to see me and knew I was not right. I knew what I was doing but could not control it. Was seeing things and picking in the air. Of course they took me off after my Daughter told them about what was happening. I'm so glad it helps some people but not for me.
Neurologist prescribed it for me and only thing it did was make me terribly constipated. I won't be trying it again.
Oh, yes - I took Gabapentin for many years, with absolutely ZERO results. I finally just stopped - these docs always assume you have pain; however, I had no pain, just debilitating numbness, which only added to my balance problems. I wish there was SOMETHING (reasonably priced, of course) for this problem I’ve had for years!
I might mention I’ve tried 2x to come to Mayo for help for my constant pain for 18 years from multiple spinal surgeries (scoliosis). They refused to see me. Since Mayo never provided a reason for their outright denial of my care, I can only assume all my imagining, with all my nuts and bolts, spooked them.
Very, very disappointing for an almost 74-yr old woman!
what is your Gabba doseage?
I was on 600 mg 4x a day for over a year, but I stopped taking it because it wasn’t doing anything for me.
