@06111945cc today I have a 28-day old forteo pen and out of curiosity i played with it. Found a few interesting but useless (who knows?) facts. The pen has 4 extra doses after 28 day usage. Manufacturer asks us to toss after 28 days. I did for a couple times used 1-2 doses beyond 28 days due to shipment delay or traveling.

When loading the liquid medicine by pulling the plunger, if i do it very slowly with even speed, I do hear clicks at almost even intervals, max of 7 clicks (till the red line shows up) was what I heard. As a member (gently?) pointed out, if you don't fully load the pen till the red line shows up, you won't be able to deliver the (any) dose.

When delivering the medicine by pushing the plunger, I won't hear the click till about mid-way. After mid-way, there are bunch of clicks. I let the medicine drops fall on a parchment paper and notice the two droplets (before midway and after) are roughly similar in size. But there is no way for me to measure them.

So in reality it's not feasible to do less dose. First it won't be accurate. Second, one's hand needs to be very steady for the approximate half dose, which is very hard.
