Be careful about these exercises. I did them yesterday and, beginning last night, my neck became much sorer than it was. Now, when I move my head a certain way, my neck becomes worse. Pain I would rate as a 7 and causing much nausea. These exercises might not be safe for everybody. I do have a herniated disc in my neck with some impingement and the doctors are talking about doing cervical surgery.

Hi Meg,
You are absolutely right. People need to be cautious about doing exercises that are safe for their personal bodies. There is a warning on all of Dr. Mandell’s ( He is a Chiropractor) videos to caution watchers that says:
THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER, BEFORE MAKING ANY HEALTHCARE DECISIONS OR FOR GUIDANCE ABOUT A SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITION.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi @meg8, So sorry to hear these exercises didn't work for you. I hope that you find some relief and that your pain eases soon.

I came down with Cervical Radiculopathy last April out of the blue. Just one day I was screaming with the most awful neck pain. It did get better by itself within a few weeks. I had an MRI and they found I have two bone spurs pressing on a nerve. They sent me to PT and her way of working on it was to massage it for 40 minutes or so. It made it so bad that it started the pain all over again. I didn't go back. It was better, then I went to a famous spinal surgeon that just happens to practice in my county. To check where it hurt, he again pressed on the spot causing the pain to last for another two weeks. In my case pressing on the nerve just makes it much worse. I find that taking Gabapentin, just 300mg. helps more then PT.
