I had to get the illeostomy 2 mths ago in late October. The original surgeon caused some complications with the robotic lower anterior resection.
I hope to get it reversed in August.

The one member who recommended burping the bag is the standard practice of removing air, especially from closed ended pouches. The trick is, you have to hold down the wafer with one hand while you pull up on the tab on the bag with the other hand…that way you’re not pulling the entire appliance off your skin when you try and open it up to release the air. Another solution is to buy pouches that are open ended with the tail clip… That way you can empty the bag and air several times a day, as needed.

That's All Well and Good BUT the prices we are paying for these bags, there should be some kind of way the company's manufacturing them come up with a solution...

That's not the point...Why have they not come out with a product that Vents itself...I have been using these bags since 2002...same thing...nothing new...except the prices...
Welcome, @jsindc and great tip. How long have you been living with an ostomy? What led to your needing one?

Thanks, I'll look into those...
You can ask the company for a free sample. Osto-EZ-Vent.
Coloplast makes bags with vents. Call their representative for free samples to test out the product.
Thanks Will Try Them Out...

Have checked to see if your insurance will cover some of the cost. Medicare does.
