Hello, I originally leaned toward radiation and hormone treatment. Instead, I chose surgery, that was back in January 2022. Following my surgery, I’ve had good energy and feel positive about each day. Unfortunately, my doctor had to “cut wide” in order to remove spreading cancerous tissue on one side of my prostate. I was totally incontinent for about 5 months. I was 95% continent after 10 months. My erectile function has comeback but it’s weak. I’ve had my PSA monitored every three months; it’s been undetectable. I grateful to the doctors and staff at the Mayo Clinic — very knowledgeable and caring!

Do you mind if I ask why you finally chose surgery over radiation and hormone treatment? If you are uncomfortable sharing I completely understand. Thank you again for being willing to share your experience. Are you happy with Mayo in Arizona?
