I live in Arizona and all my doctors are at Mayo. What you described seems to be the protocol at Mayo. A few years ago I had a torn rotator cuff. Same procedure met with a physician assistant first. Next appointment was with the specialist. Now I’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer, same procedure urologist first, next week radiation doc.
The urology area and cancer are at the Phoenix campus. Scheduling is very helpful. Good luck🍀
