@kaleigh95 Welcome to Mayo clinic Connect! Many of us who live with chronic kidney Disease, have additional health concerns to deal with, so please know you are not alone.

What I have found in my experience, is having a good medical team around you, is of utmost importance. If you do not have a nephrologist yet, I strongly recommend you get one on your team. Ask that your rheumatologist and nephrologist work together to develop a treatment plan that will be beneficial to you, and minimize any harmful side effects to your kidneys. You are smart to be looking at all of this! For example, my oncologist and nephrologist work together to get me the best treatment plans given my kidney disease. My cancer treatment could be more aggressive, but it would really take a toll on me for my kidney issues, so we don't do that.

Sometimes, even when we try the hardest we can, a treatment for one condition can have side effects on another condition. I hope your doctors will get together and plan a good course of treatment for you. How are you feeling today?

Thank you so much, this is extremely helpful information. I will discuss this with my rheumatologist.
My days are up and down, primarily due to edema. The only thing that helps is Prednisone, but my rheumatologist has told me I cannot have any sort of long term usage.
Thank you again for the response. I truly appreciate it.
