Has anyone with neuropathy taken doxazosin for high blood pressure?
I’ve had neuropathy since 2017…and also have high blood pressure. I have a few bp meds…one of which is doxazosin. I’m wondering if anyone else is on this and if you have side effects. It’s difficult for me to tolerate…causing tiredness, lack motivation, low energy etc. Neuropathy causes some of these effects and this seems to aggravate them…thanks
Steve

Hi Steve @stallen, I have high blood pressure (hypertension) and take spironolactone and hydrochlorothiazide to help control it. I haven't noticed any side effects or interactions with my neuropathy symptoms but I think that might be a good question to discuss with your doctor. Maybe there are some alternative medications that would work with fewer or no side effects?
I have been taking doxazosin for some 10 years, Neuropathy about 5. I see or feel no connection.
Is the combination of both HCTZ and Spirinolactone helping to keep your BP stable? Asking as I am on HCTZ and was just taken off lisinopril and put on spirinolactone.
Hi @joyfl2, I was in a heart study for high blood pressure and hypertension at Mayo Clinic/St. Mary's Hospital back in late 80s and at the time I think I was taking Enalapril or Lisinopril and HCTZ for BP at the time. The result of participating in the study found that my diagnosis changed to Hypertension, secondary to primary aldosteronism and I was switched to Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide. My BP has stayed pretty well under control since then.
I have a home BP device and take my BP most every morning and it's within the OK range for an octogenarian, normally averages to 127/76. I took the BP monitor along with me to an appointment with my PCP to check the results vs the readings taken at doctor visits and they line up pretty close.
Thank you!
