Initial blood tests to ask for ?

Posted by alexxa @alexxa, Sep 16, 2023

Hello...
I just had a dexa indicating osteoporosis, and will discuss soon with my PCP. I had a CBC done earlier this summer. I have seen CTX as an important test. I am wondering if I should ask for that on my discussion visit, or anything else, for that matter. Endo initial visit is not for a few months.

@mayblin

I only know he is in Colorado, Dr. Paul Miller. Watched his presentation on ytube and also someone recommended him once, that's how I remembered his name. It seems he does a lot of anabolic therapy. Wish you luck!

Thank you, mayblin. I'm just beginning my journey and am appreciating people like you on the forum who are so generous.

Why is that?

I am not sure about their usefulness either. My P1NP has not matched the level of effectiveness of Tymlos and I am still exploring the effect of Evenity. I have one doc who doesn't do the tests, one who does, and McCormick relies on them a lot but in other matters, all three disagree on some things!

There is no magic answer for us and we are all doing the best we can!

I am wondering if my insurance (Anthem) would cover the initial tests that Dr Mcormick uses. He refers to them as a "plethera" & that is true! I really doubt that my doctor has heard of all of them! Still waiting for endocrinologist appt in April.

@guinivere don't worry if you can't get all the tests that McCormick wants, or the labs. He will still talk with you. In my case I don't think he even looked at what I brought because the situation, unfortunately, was clear!
