I need some encouraging words to help me through the process of weaning off Paxil. I’ve been on for 20 years started with 20 and now have weaned back down to 20 after being on 40 having a very difficult time need some advice.

Don't give up. Exercise, stay busy, get sleep, eat healthy, talk to others, journal... Maybe describe what you are experiencing with more detail. Others may have advice for specific symptoms.

Hi
I am on Paxil now and have been on for almost 20 years. Last January instead of going to my PCP I decided to go to a psychiatrist for medication management and also therapy. I was at 40 mg when I started. My psychiatrist suggested that since I've been on it so long to only decrease at 5 mg at a time. You will have to cut pills in half for some doses. My good news is I am on 10 mg a day And hopefully within the next three months I will be finished. My only advice is to take your time and do not rush. You can get there it's just going to take time. I hope some of this is able to help you. I do know what you're going through and it is not easy. If you decide to start weaning using the 5 mg at a time system, I would allow four weeks or more between cutting the dose good luck and I hope this works out for you
