Bone density test other than DEXA

Hi! Several weeks ago there were a few posts about a differnt type of bone scan that tells more than just the density. If memory serves, it’s an out-of-pocket procedure, I THINK around $ 400.00 (?), and the nearest place to me that “it” can be performed is somewhere in/near Asheville, NC.
If anyone knows what I’m referring to, please enlighten me. It may have been some type of fance x-ray, but, again, I read about it with interest and failed to flag it or make note of the details.

How do we know the echo light is better than the dexa? Most people who have the echo have a better score than with the dexa? Why is that? That being said I am all for less radiation.

It’s ultrasound and not radiation. I paid $75 not $400 in Sanford, NC.
