Trimix injection good or bad idea?

Hi Spino,
There’s the possibility that when you inserted the needle into your TRIMIX vial to withdraw multiple dosages over time that you were going in at the same location of the rubber top which made the hole a little bigger than usual allowing some of the pressurized TRIMIX to escape and bubble etc. I insert pressurized air in the same amount as my dose into the vial before extracting my dosage to make a more smooth and constant flow when filling my syringe.
Due to the fact that this is a compounded medication it’s not always formulated exactly the same by every compounding pharmacy that does it,
You’re correct in the normal instructions regarding storage temperature that to adjust your refrigerator down to the recommended parameters it should be cold enough to store your TRIMIX.
That’s what I had been doing for my first 3 vials.
I spoke with my pharmacist to discuss the “freezing vs the storage in the refrigerator” method as to which was best!
She informed me that based upon the testing they had done and what had also been done and tested by independent sources that tested their TRIMIX formula that it held its overall potency better and longer if kept in a “frozen state!”
I am not sure if there is an absolute correct answer here. My personal choice going forward is to “freeze” it. I found that my TRIMIX did loose some of its potency and strength over time when only “refrigerated!”
Like most things when it comes to all things “Prostate Cancer” related etc. There are different approaches in the treatments and recovery methodologies used by different patients.
That’s my read on the situation.
Best wishes and good luck on your journey.
Phil

Hi back at you, Phil. Yes, what you are saying was what I had been going on when i started freezing it. The first time worked fine. The second time not so much. I agree with your comments about technique. I haven't had any trouble with trimix escaping or bubbling when I do it as you indicate. I'm glad trimix is available, and while not perfect, it's been a valuable aid, although my wife did comment last night that she wasn't worried about me getting too aggressive with her because I didn't have a shot nearby.... We both found it funny in an ironic sort of way. Life's journey has lots of unanticipated lessons to teach along the way.
Regarding the loss of potency, it turns out there is only one of the three chemicals in the trimix that loses its potency and that is fairly measured, like 20% over six months when kept consistently refrigerated at a temp between 40F and 32F (normal for food storage). I am at around 200 shots now over 21 months and am 2 months into using my fourth vial. At $100 a vial, that's a lot more cost effective than using a vial every month, and ultimately it's just a short term effect each time. Of course, safety is paramount.
