Trimix injection good or bad idea?

I did have one experience of freezing the vial and then after thawing something precipitated out--turned to crystals. I was still able to use the remainder of the vial (increasing the dosage to compensate,) but the pharmacist told me this can happen, depending on some (uncontrollable by me) factors in how it was mixed, and that I should not freeze it. I have gone with her advice since then.

Hi Spino,
There’s the possibility that when you inserted the needle into your TRIMIX vial to withdraw multiple dosages over time that you were going in at the same location of the rubber top which made the hole a little bigger than usual allowing some of the pressurized TRIMIX to escape and bubble etc. I insert pressurized air in the same amount as my dose into the vial before extracting my dosage to make a more smooth and constant flow when filling my syringe.
Due to the fact that this is a compounded medication it’s not always formulated exactly the same by every compounding pharmacy that does it,
You’re correct in the normal instructions regarding storage temperature that to adjust your refrigerator down to the recommended parameters it should be cold enough to store your TRIMIX.
That’s what I had been doing for my first 3 vials.
I spoke with my pharmacist to discuss the “freezing vs the storage in the refrigerator” method as to which was best!
She informed me that based upon the testing they had done and what had also been done and tested by independent sources that tested their TRIMIX formula that it held its overall potency better and longer if kept in a “frozen state!”
I am not sure if there is an absolute correct answer here. My personal choice going forward is to “freeze” it. I found that my TRIMIX did loose some of its potency and strength over time when only “refrigerated!”
Like most things when it comes to all things “Prostate Cancer” related etc. There are different approaches in the treatments and recovery methodologies used by different patients.
That’s my read on the situation.
Best wishes and good luck on your journey.
