TENS machine for diabetic neuropathy
I have diabetes and worked on my poor feet for 45yrs. I have neuropathy in my arms but to my foot getting worse. Several physical many years, but has come back again and again. They therapy called Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimullation (TENS).
I bought Nooro for my feet. It is a pad that you can use yourself.
They are now out on the market. Be careful were you buy it ask you physician or a physical therapist. 😉

Go to Walmart, Much, much cheaper. Nooro returns in China, $ in US, Tens output not strong enough compared with the Pads. Good luck!
Hi @applesforall5370. Sorry to hear about your increasing pain from diabetes. How is the TENS unit working for you?

5 ReactionsYes I have had my Nooro device about a month. I use once ot twice a day. Easy to use and the company will help you along. I was diagnosed with neuropathy in my arms and legs. So far so good.

1 ReactionI’m not sure why I received these posts from the Neuropathy group as I usually hang out in the Diabetes & Endocrinology group. But I am diabetic and I have experienced neuropathy in the past. I had peripheral neuropathy in my hands and also autonomic neuropathy in the form of gastroparesis that still flares up from time to time. I had a pancreas transplant in 2005 and the peripheral neuropathy disappeared. In the past several months I have noticed a possible return of the peripheral neuropathy. It is a very minor tingly numbness in my hands sometimes. I really haven’t thought much of it but getting this post reminded me of it. I’ve had some experience with a TENS machine for pain post abdominal surgeries a long time ago. I found it to be a yucky annoying feeling and not at all helpful. But that was a long time ago. I’ve never heard of using TENS for diabetic neuropathy. I will perhaps look into the links provided by Justin.

2 ReactionsHi, my dad & brother had/has diabetes. Recently, I’ve been to doctors of my “problems” of my top leg to the bottom. I have pain on the top back of my legs. I lose 70% of the right-foot of little feeling.
What happened? I feel down on the top of my 2 legs and hit the wooden steps.
How about know? Thankfully, a new doctor checked if or not from my fingers down to my toes. It took My blood is perfect.
The coming - a different - doctor. I’ve been to him before a 12+ years ago… have TBIs from a bicycle accident. Well, the end of this mth, that doctor will try to help part of my lower back and down.
From my TBI accident, has changed my life and lost 80% of my brain - gearing, understanding, pro working and on… but I’m here. ❤️. Adding my fall down on the top 2 legs has changed my life again, but is not brain-problems and now my physical problem is there. From my brain-accident, I lost from normal - mentally & phyically, including no running, swimming, and a few others.
My neuropathy secondary to spine surgery. Right BK Amp secondary to profound neuropathy right lower leg and now creeping down left leg. Tried external TENS with no improvement also part of study for NEUROS a sort of implanted TENS. No improvement pain control. Not saying won't help others.
My neurologist currently has on an East stem device called NEUROGENX. It is a powerful stimulation device. Prescribed for twice a week, 2420 minute sessions. It has made a difference. Incremental improvement. Doc or PA injects, lidocaine and sodium bicarbonate, at the side of three different nerves, two inside and below the knee, and the third on the outside, and just under the ankle bone. This is to compensate for the electrical current.
had a neuropathic doctor tell me not to use consumer grade tens devices as they inadvertently shoot the nerves in an uncontrolled environment.
follow up: this therapy has helped. PN localized to soles of feet now, 90% of time. I have 6 sessions left. Soles are beginning to be sensitive (vs. numb or pins/needles). I take that as nerves getting healthy.
Medicare pays all except $20 office visit. Neurologist MD says after last session we’ll wait a while, and if needed, can do another course of treatment without damaging anything.
