Right breast cancer DCIS: Is 4-5 weeks of radiation normal protocol?

I just had my second surgery. The margins were clean but not wide enough (less than 2mm). I just met with an oncology radiologist to see if I was a candidate for proton therapy. I am not. She told me the radiation would be 15 days, maybe 16 if I need a "boost". I am seeing 2nd radiologist on the 16th. I also was diagnosed with DCIS in Situ but I did have some micro calcifications.

It sounds like you and I are alike. As far as right side d c, I, s, they didn't have to take limp glands from me. I'm waiting for results just wondering if you've had any side effects on that drug. My surgeon said probably 3 weeks of radiation.
And depending on my Hormone results. I may have to take the drug.

I had dcis surgery December 15th right breast no tumor it was all in the milk ducts just saw my surgeon yesterday now I have to have Sentinel nose surgery because my pathology showed a very limb amount of invasive cancer. Once the surgery is done next week they will do an oncotype test which tells them if I have to have chemo my doctor doubts it and I'm going to be having two weeks of radiation

My DCIS was listed as “extensive, grade 2” and measured 3cm (surgeon took out about the size of a Lemon).
I did 4 weeks of radiation- 15 regular treatments and then 5 treatments of a “boost.”
So sounds like 4-5 weeks is pretty typical…?

If you are large-breasted and the radiation is directed to the underside of your breast the ComfortSlings products are game changers in protecting your skin. I also had DCIS and even though margins were clear, one spot was only 1 mm and they want 2 mm. I had 16 treatments for whole breast and 5 that were targeted to the small margin area.
