Anyone else have upper abdominal burn (not inside stomach)?

Posted by mmorley @mmorley, Jan 31 11:13am

For about a year, I have had upper abdominal pain that is not inside my stomach. I've had my gallbladder out and have had a Nissan Fundoplication for reflux in the past. It is not helped by any of the meds for stomach acid. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or how much. An ice pack is somewhat helpful. I'm having an endoscopic ultrasound in 2 wks to see what is going on.

Have you considered nerve pain, since you do not feel it is in your stomach. I get a burning sensation above my stomach area. I was diagnosed with PMR. Had upper GI myself and the doctor found nothing, although I know certain meds can reek havoc on your body.

I did consider nerve pain but the drs. are thinking that is unlikely in my situation. I don't have the muscle pain that you do with PMR. Isn't chronic pain just awful? I deal with chronic neck and bladder pain, too. It's like we can't remember when we last actually felt good...

Chronic pain is absolutely horrible. I don't wish it on anyone. When I have a good run of less pain I will forget about how bad it can be. But just let me be late on my meds and it reminds me immediately just how awful it can be.

Hope you find out why you are having this burning and pain. Keep us posted! Sending hugs!

You are so right. It affects everything and I am so thankful for meds because they are what help me to function.
Thanks for your well wishes and you have my support, as well.

@pb50 and @mmorley. question. why are you both not fond of Gabapentin? what worries you about it? very curious.

For me, Gabapentin did not help with my abdominal pain and it was not friendly with my GI track.

It doesn't help my abdominal pain either. I take it for a painful bladder disease and chronic neck/headache pain.
