How worried should i be by a huge ovarian tumor?

Posted by lulu89 @lulu89, Feb 4 10:35pm

I was diagnosed with a ovarian tumor thats 17.5cm ×25.6cm×26.9 cm. My gynecologist could not treat it and referred me to an oncologist gynecologist. The thing is is I have no insurance. Are there resources out there for people like me. I do not know yet if it's benign or malignant but they said it's as large as a full term baby and has my bladder deflated.

I have an appointment scheduled for Feb 12. We shall see what the oncologist gynecologist has to say then. I did speak with a social worker, applied online for medicaid and over the phone gor ssdi. Please keep me in your prayers that I can get approved for some kind of help. Thank you all for your responses.

It sounds like it needs to be removed. I had endometriosis years ago and, without the current imaging programs, I feared ovarian cancer, so I went for it. If laparoscopic surgery is possible, it is minimally invasive. You need more information, despite the cost, due to the effects on your bladder, it sounds like.

I totally agree with marye2. I know of someone with a large ovarian cyst, about 1/3 the size which turned out to be benign (PET scan). Removal was recommended due to the other organs being impacted from pressure on them from the cyst. The other issue that may arise is possible torsion of the cyst, which can be very painful. You should get a doctor’s advice but I expect the advice would be to get it removed and tested. Best of luck going forward….
