I have been on prednisone for 3 years and taking calcium with vitamin D since menopause, about 25 years. Recently a spinal fracture was seen on an x ray and three specialists have told me to stop taking calcium. Told me to take 1200 mg of vitamin D. Also eat a calcium heavy diet. Also starting on Forteo and having an MRI prior to consult with a spine surgeon to see what if anything can be done for the fracture. My recent DEXA Scan was good but they still insist on me taking a med due to long term steroid use and a fracture. Prednisone is not our friend but allowed me to be mobile.

Very sorry to hear about your fracture, and hope you are not in a lot of pain. Sounds like your doctors are responding to your needs and ordering appropriate tests.
Low dose prednisone is keeping me upright and going right now. These powerful drugs are indeed often double edge swords. I was on Hydroxychloroquine and Gabapentin. I recently had to stop them both due to increasing muscle pain, brain fog, vertigo and visual problems. We have to have some relief to have some quality of life, but it sure isn’t easy figuring out how to do that sometimes!
Peace and quiet blessings for us all today 🕊️
