any comments on immunotherapy-induced pneumonitis?

Sister doing well with chemo and immunotherapy, however recent CAT scan shows hazing on lungs. Her Onc Doc is concerned about immunotherapy-induced pneumonitis. While no reduction in cancer sizes, shows no growth. She is receiving receiving PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors, Oxipalatin.
Anyone else have any similar reactions?
She is stage IVb.

Oops, not Oxaliplatin-- I forget what the drug is.

Yes, I think that's it - Optivo.
Good luck on your journey!! I hope things are going well for you. What stage?

I was T3-n0. Did Carbo/Taxel chemo once a week for 5 weeks along with 25 proton radiations. 9 hour surgery the started Optivo. Has your sister done the surgery? The chemo and radiation shrank the tumor before surgery. Made swallowing easier. Good luck to your sister. Maybe a pulmonologist could help, maybe some lung exercises?

Opdivo can cause many issues... from joint pains to lung issues to thyroid shut down. I saw almost nothing with my year of Opdivo, but some see problems from the very first infusion... many start to have problems in 4 to 8 months. Is there a magical number of infusions needed? Who knows. One year is the protocol... but maybe even 6 months worth helps. But need to stop if his immune system ain't liking what's going on.

I was on a different PD1 inhibitor for over two years. My side effects did not include pneumonitis fortunately. My oncologist discussed that and other side effects at the time and said that some patients can stay on their immunotherapy at a reduced dose or with the addition of steroids. Again, a different drug than Opdivo but same mechanism of action. Pneumonitis is the side effect they seem to be most concerned about. What has her oncologist talked about as a plan to deal with this?

I was blessed to do opdivo for a year with no side effects. I had my 4 year scan and endoscope last week and still cancer free. I read about Opdivo before it was approved for use and my oncologist got it approved.
