Radiation with bilateral hip replacement
Has anyone had any experience with MRIs or radiation treatment with bilateral hip replacement? I have read that some treatments aren’t available if you had had a hip replacement, and that also the MRI might not produce a great scan because of the replacements.

I had one hip replaced in 2015 and one in 2021. I'm 74 and just finished 5 treatments of high dose SBRT.
Of all the other radiation treatments out there, proton beam therapy is about the only one you can't do. It is devivered through the hip area
As to MRI's, you should have no problem. If you're dealing with prostate cancer, I also HIGHLY recommend a 3T MRI. Don't let them talk you into anything less.

Biochemical recurrence (BCR). 20 - 30% BCR rate of recurrence.
Salvage radiation & 4 mos ADT Feb - June 2023
1st post tx PSA not detectable
MRI and 2 PSMA PET scans all noted "artifacts" from hip replacements.
1st mapping for salvage radiation "failed" because of hip replacement interference w/ safe radiation delivery
2d mapping using rectal balloon successful
So my experience was yes, the hip replacements were a factor in dx and treatment (tx), but not an obstacle
