Hello, I’m 62 diagnosed ovarian cancer in July 2023. I asked some of the same questions at the beginning of my treatment and several advised me to go ahead and get the port because you will probably get it anyway before the end. My port has been great-no problems. Just finished treatment on Friday. I sent you a private message just in case you want to talk more. I will be happy to share my experience. I’m at Mayo Florida.
I am glad I found this support thread. I am also almost 53, may. Not sure where I am at yet. Went to the ER last Friday, a week ago for nausea and chest tightness. Dr came out to tell me I had a positive pregnancy test, hcg, abnormal blood work, and i had a partial hysterectomy 3 yrs ago. Mentioned that I had something serious in my reproductive system. Dr notes said follow up for ovarian pathology and malignancy. Told me to get a fire under my butt and be seen in 2 days, well being a friday and not having a pcp yet, I spent all day doing just that. Got a gyn/onc willing to take me without referral. Been a week and still no appt. This waiting is killing me, not knowing what is going on. Current symptoms are feeling full quickly, bloating, constipation, some nausea, and a pressure in my lower pelvic region. Any thoughts on this anyone. Im scared and very anxious and tired of waiting for an appt. Much much love to all who have been diagnosed and receiving treatment for all cancers.
@kristinfloyd You have such a supportive cancer care team especially with your Gyn/Onc. I just love how these doctors, nurses, and all staff consult with one another at Mayo and at other clinics where there is such close collaboration. Your plans to organize your craft room is so smart. When one's life feels out of control I think it helps to do something you do have control over. Like your craft room so that you can do your crafts in a space that feels comfortable for you. I have also read and heard that the patients who are optimistic do better. Now it's time to allow your cancer care team to do their work so that you can do yours.
We are here for you to lean on.
