The patch is absorbed straight into the body and does not have to be digested. There is no increased risk of clot or stroke using transdermal estrogen, at standard doses. It's the safest method in my Dr's. opinion. He's a strong proponent of HRT, hard to find. Unfortunately, he retired.

Do you mind if I ask your age? I'm one of the baby boomers who was scared off of HRT but, if it has some protection against bone, breast, and brain disease, I'd like to try a low-dose patch and progesterone. I'm on vaginal estradiol and it made a huge difference in a short length of time. The benefits are only local, though, as I understand it.
