ADT and weight loss?
My husband's been on ADT, elegard injections for over a year and has not gained any weight. He's 5'11" and weighs 153. (His treatment was radiation, 26 rounds of photon, Gleason 8). From what we have read, most men gain weight on ADT. Anyone else experience this?

I am "only" on 6 months of Orgovyx. I am a small guy, 135 normally. Lost 7 pounds prior to initiating the Orgovyx and through diet, portion control and fairly vigorous exercise have managed to keep it off. Currently beginning my third month of ADT.
I've been on ADT, (3 months of Firmagon, 11 months Elegard), for more than a year I have not gained any weight I have lost weight, only a couple of pounds but it was weight loss not gain. I'm 6' and weigh 177lbs down from 180.
If by experience this you mean not gaining weight after ADT start, yes, I experienced that.
In April 22 I weighed 200-205 3 months before starting ADT. BMI was over 28. Thinking it would be very likely I'd be going on ADT within the next few months due to my post RP PSA trajectory, I hired a personal trainer and worked on my diet. I'd lost 15 lbs by early July 22 when I started ADT and have been maintaining at 158-165 for the past 6-8 months, a little less than 18 months into ADT. Some of that weight loss has been to unavoidable sarcopenia, but a lot of it has been due to loss of visceral fat which is a big health driver.
I think the concern is with guys who are inactive and have led a sedentary lifestyle when they start ADT and don't change anything.
Looks like lots of guys keep their weight in check. Thats good to hear. Hubby is very active and i, as the household meal/cooker/shopper person....keep his diet pretty healthy..
If it ain't there, he can't eat it!
I'm starting ADT with a Lupron injection next week, and then we're doing five rads of SBRT-TrueBeam STX sometime next month. Both my urologist and RO told me that I should maintain or vary my current fitness regime of power yoga, TRX workouts and brisk walking throughout the entire treatment lifecycle. In addition, I switched to a more plant-based diet similar to the Mediterranean Diet. They told me that the guys who seems to have the most weight gain and possible other side-effects such as fatigue and bladder or bowel issues may not be very active. Exercise can help offset or reduce physical side-effects, and may help with some of the mental and emotional side-effects, but everyone's experience will vary.
Finished my SBRT 6 weeks ago, currently on month three of ADT with Orgovyx.
You got this.
