Leg response to compression socks while traveling

Has anyone else experienced compression socks that 'leave marks into ones skin' after wearing them for a few hours? Is this normal? I find it hurts. Maybe my compression socks are too small?

Normal for me. At times I wear a compression stocking due to a old DVT. Alwsys swells some, leave marks. Regular socks also leave marks on me. I have had stockings that were to tight. Not small but a higher compression.
