Driving with Numb Feet.
Over the past year the numbness in my feet has increased and at times I find my foot slipping off the brake. I’ve kept my driving to less than 2 miles and this might occur about once per drive.
My license is due for renewal and the medical form filled out three years ago (numbness not as bad) is due to be resubmitted. I can’t lie to doctors and pretend everything is okay but I do have a question.
Can any one recommend a shoe, currently using skechers which has helped with walking, that might help this problem.
Thanks much.

Found 50mg tabs on amazon.
50 mg. of what?
ALA vs 300 mg terrible on my stomach. Try lower dose?
That’s what I thought. My neurologist suggests between 300-600mg a day.
Before I ever met her I was on 600 mg. a day from my own research, Still on it, no stomach problems and think it’s actually helping in that my numbness got bit better. Could also be due less sugar.
I take 1200 mg daily of R-ALA (600 mg morning and evening). There is a "ramp up" process for R-ALA on The Protocol website under the FAQ section that you might find helpful if the R-ALA is causing stomach issues. Here's a link to the FAQ section, then just look for the What is Ramp UP? topic - https://theprotocolworks.com/faq/.
It's also key to drink plenty of water during the ramp up process.
For supplements I research through Google what is best brand of the particular supplement is. Then use Google to help me find stores near me with those brand(s).
I would also like some shoe recommendations. My current shoes are sort of thick-soles and I can't feel the pedals.
I was using thinner sole shoes for a while. A little better feel. My feet are not completely numb yet. My Under Armour sneakers are working better for me. Soles are thinner than some sneakers. Also for me a smoother sole more likely to slip off the pedal. Hiking shoes or boots are a nogo for driving for me.
Thanks for the info. I need to get a new Dr. Trying to decide between podiatrist or neurologist or both. Activity seems to help numbness. Walking more when I can, maybe pursue P.T. also.
I don’t understand how smooth soles keeps your foot from slipping off the brake. I decided to go with the hiking shoes not boots. My Hoka’s are doing what I needed. The hiking sole grips the brake really well. No more slips.
