@backincontrol

So sorry to hear of your terrible pain. There is no doubt something more going on. I too have had back issues most of my life and have had 3 fusion surgeries, which I would not recommend until you have exhausted all possible alternative options. I agree with others that an Orthopedic doctor would be good or a Pain, Medicine & Rehab doctor as they can do amazing things with various injections, etc. I would also suggest becoming well educated on understanding your results from the MRI, X-rays and any other results. To assist you I would highly recommend reading the book, "Back & Neck Health" by my Mayo Clinic (Rochester) Neurosurgeon, Dr. Mohamad Bydon. This easy to understand book may help you in how to positively move forward with a treatment plan.

Prayers are being said for you & all of our brothers & sisters in back pain so we can get our lives back in control and not have our backs in control of our lives. Peace!

@backincontrol I do like your name! That is actually the title of a book written by a spine surgeon (David Handsom) who became a spine surgery patient himself. I have that book and it is excellent. He also has a website by that name.

I am also a Mayo spine surgery patient. I know Dr. Bydon is excellent and doing important research at Mayo. I came to Mayo after 5 local spine surgeons missed the diagnosis because my cervical spinal cord compression was generating pain all over my body. I'm glad to know another Mayo spine patient. I had a C5/C6 fusion with no hardware and stayed in a neck brace until it began to fuse.

Good to meet you!
