Hairline fractures can be missed even with a contrast MRI. The primary symptom of hairline fracture is pain. If contrast doesn't reveal any source, insist on a CT. The inability to sit leads me to the coccyx. While you may have impacted the sacrum first, more likely the tailbone. Sometimes this is an easy fix.

@gently what are the easy fixes? I suffer from this condition and nothing prescribed has eliminated the pain except the diagnostic test done to find the cause. I believe lidocaine and perhaps cortisone was used for that test. The relief was total but short lived.
