Stopping Evenity Early

Posted by melanie1 @melanie1, Sep 17, 2022

I decided to stop Evenity after seven treatments because I seemed to develop increased symptoms of osteoarthritis in knees and hands while on it, in addition to generalized stiffness and joint pain. Has anyone experienced this or stopped Evenity for other reasons before completing 12 treatments?

That’s the problem I’m not sure. I would forget stuff like what I went to get in another room, but I think that’s normal. And Also I’ve been sleep deprived since I have sleep apnea but haven’t been using my CPAP machine which I’ve vowed to start using. That also affects concentration. Sorry

Thanks for trying 🙂 I am having a delay. For instance, today I thought of someone's first name but was blank on the last name. A few minutes later, without thinking about it, the last name popped into my head. This keeps happening. It may be from COVID (I was in the hospital briefly.)

Might want to do some research on excessive screen time and memory loss. And it is well-known that memory loss/brain fog is associated with COVID. Strikes me as similar to the chemo-brain that occurred while undergoing cancer treatment.

When it comes to side effects associated with any medication, I often remind myself that correlation does not necessarily mean causation, especially when those side effects are subjective.

Just heard via text msg from my Dr re the Evenity and memory loss amongst other things. Two sentences , “Yes this is due to Evenity It should clear up””. He’s starting me on the yearly Reclast injections instead.

Oh no. I hope it clears up. I am still having one more (my second) tomorrow and then I will stop.

Perhaps You should check with your Dr again?

I wrote him but I can think of two other reasons for memory issues and at the moment only about 1/16 of the Evenity is still in my body.

It may very well be Covid brain. Especially if you had a bad case of it where you had to be hospitalized

I hope that you have zero ill effects.

I wrote on another thread that the dose is based on a 150lb woman (3mg/kg) and exposure to Evenity goes up as weight goes down. I weigh 104. My dose should be closer to 140mg, not 210. One syringe is 110mg, which for me would be 2,g/kg approximately and 1/3 less effective. I don't do standard doses for any meds and don't think I should have to with Evenity, especially after a rough first week with my first dosing.

I am getting my 8th injection of Evenity on Monday and I’m thinking of talking to my dr about stopping after reading these posts. I’ve had increased pain and stiffness in my back since the first injection. I’ve been stretching, walking (but that has been causing pain lately), and using resistance bands. I went to a physiatrist a couple weeks ago and he prescribed meloxicam which hasn’t touched the pain. My questions are how long did these adverse reactions continue after stopping and what’s next?
