Inactive bladder, with no elasticity

I have a bladder diverticulum also. I’ve been struggling with recurrent UTIs because of inability to empty my bladder. They have not mentioned surgery, but I have been trying to explore the possibility so that I know something about it before it is discussed.
I see you had the surgery. was the surgery successful in removing the diverticulum? Would it have been better not to have surgery if you still have to self-catheter?
I guess I’m trying to understand even when they remove the diverticulum you still have to use the catheter.?
I thought that the surgery would correct that and then you wouldn’t have to use a catheter.
I guess I was hoping that a surgery would allow me not to have self-catheter for the rest of my life.
Maybe you can set me straight.
Thankful far any help.

Carlotta

I didn’t use catheters until years after having the diverticulum removed.
