They just give 1 mg instead of 5. Not sure why your doctor said that. It is not common though. I am getting lower dose only because of kidney issues.

Thank you for the info regarding alternate doses of Reclast. It is so helpful to read information that I haven't been able to find
in talking with my doctor and on internet searches. Doctor visits
are so short.
