Obviously, we are over 1 7 but there is more than one dosage available.

"Children and Adolescents 3 to 17 years
5 mg IV once yearly, or alternatively, 0.05 to 0.1 mg/kg/dose IV once every 6 months or 0.05 mg/kg/dose IV once daily for 2 consecutive days every 4 months."

They just give 1 mg instead of 5. Not sure why your doctor said that. It is not common though. I am getting lower dose only because of kidney issues.
