Has anyone successfully used chiropractor to repair hiatal hernia?
A friend who had a hiatal hernia said her chiropractor “fixed it” in one visit. I would be skeptical but her endoscopy the following year did not indict evidence of hiatal hernia.
Just wondering if anyone else has experience.
Thank you,
Cindy

No, extremely unlikely without surgery.
Sounds hokey. My husband was a chiropractor and hated those doctors who thought they could cure anything and everything. Those chiropractors gave the good chiropractors a bad reputation.
In my 20's I had a hiatal hernia, (diagnosed) The acid reflux was terrible, and the chiropractor did fix it!
I remember him taking his hand and moving them to the center of chest above that area where your ribs are at a V. I remember him using 4 fingers on both sides under that V area and pushing down towards a couple of times.
It Worked. Never had an issue again. He said it could come back but never did.
I have not been to a chiropractor in years. I mainly went for a couple of adjustments for migraines but decided I just did not want to go anymore.
I’m very skeptical that a chiropractor could ‘fix’ a hiatal hernia. Even if they could somehow manipulate the hernia back through the diaphragm, it doesn’t sound safe at all.
I frown upon chiropractors for this reason. They tend to jump right in without X-rays or much medical background sometimes doing more harm than good.
Interestingly chiropractors do like to call themselves doctors, which in reality they are not. A chiropractor is a physical therapist ranking between a nurse and a medic. I would never fully trust a chiropractor. In many cases they don't fully understand the complexity of the problem(s), their aggressive intervention could result in irreversible injuries.
As I said earlier, my holistic chiropractor was never taken to a physician. It is my belief that she could cure it.
Chiropractors do have a doctorate of chiropractic. It is imperative that you do your due diligence when it comes to choosing a chiropractor. A good one will not string a patient along and, if necessary, recommends a medical doctor.
I recently went through a whole slew of tests at a local chiropractor/ Functional medical Dr’s office .
I did tests that I didn’t even know existed along with lots of X-rays and lots of bloodwork ( the bloodwork done at a lab ).
When I went for my results, he went over everything w/ me . My gosh at 62 with all my 10 years of digestive disorders ( and after seeing 6 Gastro Dr’s having 7 diagnoses).. this guy made me feel like on was on deaths door at 62 .
His treatment plan was extensive and $9,600 .
I said , no thanks .
I went for a few adjustments and the machine that vibrates your back and neck that my insurance paid and I paid $22 co pay .
I no longer go .
I still suffer greatly but I don’t think anything he was offering would change that .
They are not Medical Doctors that can do surgery.
I agree with you. I think they do a lot of damage.
