Dr. Ben Leder says in his video that Tymlos effectiveness after Reclast is about 60% of effectiveness if you have never taking a med. I have also seem 50%. But that is still helpful!
Yup that’s what I’ve read about sequencing. Prolia as last resort when nothing works.
seen not seem!
Wow those are amazing gains. I’m 65, healthy and active as well (ski, hike, kayak, bike, walk). Im reticent to try Evenity because of a history of heart problems in my family (my Dad and his parents). However, hearing your incredible gains makes it more enticing as those numbers are very desirable for a skier!!!! Everyone tells me I should quit.
I’m not quitting skiing yet! I had rotator cuff surgery in October so not skiing this year but will next season. I just ski slower and easier trails🙂! Hope all goes well with you!
I’m not ready to stop skiing the off-piste blacks yet! I figure I’ll just pick my days and go when there is good fluffy powder and maybe get my husband to check out the runs first!!! Your 11 month experience sounds horrific though. Would you do it again? Did you consider Forteo?
@lauratys what was the timing of your transition from Evenity to a bisphosphonate? Did you do blood tests to determine the timing or just so the bisphosphonate one month after your last Evenity shot/
@lynn59 you might be reassured if you read the studies on cardiovascular issues with Evenity. There was not difference between Evenity and placebo, and a small but apparently significant difference between Evenity and alendronate in terms of risk, but it was noted that might be more because alendaronate is slightly protective.
My doctor did not do any bloodwork when I switched to bisphosphonaye I waited a couple of months as I felt so bad. I had DEXA 6 months after stopping Evenity and numbers were stable. Hope that helps.
The gains I got were very good so in hindsight I’m glad I did Evenity but if I did it again I would stop at seven months and switch to something to lock in gains as best bone building occurs in forests months . I’ve learned that since stopping but wish I had known that at the time as I would have stopped. I did not consider Forteo as my med professional said Evenity was best as bone building from all the studies they had seen.
I saw my cardiologist before going on Evenity. He ran some tests and cleared me to take Evenity. Then, I saw my neurologist who did an MRI of my brain 😏 and an ultrasound of my carotid artery. He said that I had no blockages so he also cleared me for Evenity.
Writing this, I realize that these two doctors were way more engaged with me about Evenity than the endocrinologist who is following me and prescribing it.
