Thank you for this. I am going to start Evenity soon. I also have many food and scent allergies. I am always nervous starting a new drug. This is the last post I am going to read for a while and just keep your experience in my head. Haha. Thx!

I’m starting Evenity in a few weeks after stalling for a year. I’m frankly scared about osteonecrosis or heart trouble.
Thanks to everyone who is sharing their experience frankly. It helps!

This gives me hope (Japanese study.)

_________

Changes in BMD with romosozumab was also evaluated in postmenopausal Japanese women with osteoporosis.10 Women with a T-score < −2.5 were randomized to romosozumab (70 mg, 140 mg, 210 mg) SQ once monthly for 12 months, or placebo. All romosozumab doses increased BMD compared with placebo (P < .01). Similar to the previous trial, the 210 mg dose produced the largest gain from baseline (16.9%, P < .001), when compared with the 70 and 140 mg dose (8.4%, 13.3%, respectively; P < .001). All doses increased bone formation marker P1NP and decreased bone resorption marker sCTx at week 1, compared with placebo (P < .001). The mean age in this study was 67.7 years with average T-scores of −2.7, −1.9, and −2.3 at the lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck, respectively. Adverse events were comparable between the groups.

@normahorn i just posted a comment that meant to gave to you.

I didn’t pay attention to adverse reaction rate between different dosage groups, but you caught it that’s great.

I have an impression that doctors at big hospitals/institutions are most reluctant to do off label use as they have to adhere institutions’ guidelines. If enough scientific papers could back up your reasoning with them as a patient, maybe they could bend the rules?

I stopped after 8 months due to similar side effects. I also had a cough & drainage I couldn’t shake even with inhalers.
Everything cleared up after stopping Evenity.

What have you followed up with? I was initially told my symptoms were not related to Evenity which was rather difficult to deal with as I felt like I was being assessed as a “head case”! Thank you!!

My endocrinologist listened to me and we skipped a month to see if my symptoms went away. She agreed with stopping Evenity after 8th month.
I got a Reclast infusion about 14 months ago. My knee swelled up dramatically where I couldn’t put weight on it for a week. I think it triggered arthritis in my hip and thumbs. But who knows.
I go back next month for a dexascan so I’m curious where I stand.

She’s suggested Tymlos as an option- but I’m inclined to take a break.

The brief summary of the study did not include any information on severity of adverse effects nor duration. I would think that being given a smaller dose, rather than being overmedicated, would help to resolve any effects as there would be less medication remaining in my body.

I was concerned about Reclast as it is a yearly injection and frankly I was worn out by Evenity and how it changed my quality of life. I’m 67 and hope to be active for a long time! I didn’t take a break as I didn’t want to lose gains but don’t know how fast that can happen. My 92 year old mom just fell and has three compression fractures. She’s had osteoporosis since her late 40s and has refused all meds and even scans! I didn’t want meds and tried all the natural options but numbers kept getting worse. Hopefully Actonel will help me keep the gains! Best to you!

Does your doctor monitor CTX before, during and after Reclast?

Did your doctor suggest tymlos as a option after evenity or reclast?

Thanks

Tymlos by my endocrinologist after Evenity and Reclast. Since I had reactions to both.
Actually my pcp recommended Tymlos originally but I balked so she referred me to an endocrinologist.

I’m going to ask for ctx marker at my next appointment.

I see, thank you!

From what I’ve read, Reclast is the most powerful and long lasting bisphosphonate. Would tymlos’ effects be attenuated if started after Reclast? Maybe your endo will initiate tymlos according to CTX readings?

Keep us posted!

Best of luck!

I’ve read it’s best to take Tymlos first, then Evenity, and finally Reclast or Prolia.
I didn’t like the idea of the rebound with Prolia so I chose Reclast.
