Osteoporosis management during the winter
It is getting quite icy where I live and I'm terrified of fractures.
What do you do during the winter to be safer in terms of fracture prevention?

There are many exercises that can be done in your home. And if you’re looking to walk , go to a mall. I will say Sherri Betz, Margaret Martin and other PT’s have a presence on YouTube - so again doing things right in your home !!! On join a gym if you feel compelled. There’s many options in the winter!! Good luck exploring!!
When there is ice I use Yaktrax Pro on my boots when I need to go outside. These are a hassle to take on and off so I usually put them on my boots when I'm not wearing them and leave them on the boots. Then I take another pair of shoes or boots with me to change in and out of. You can buy these or similar products at Amazon.

I keep a cane in my car that has an ice gripper attached to the bottom that can be flipped up and down. If really needed, I'll use the cane. You can buy these at Amazon.
Does this help?
I actually like the "micro-cleats' you can put on shoes. They are small cleats (pointy things). Just search cleats and snow and you will find them. I saw a you tube video that compared different type of shoe additions testing them on an ice rink; and the cleat types were the best to keep from slipping. I have an extra pair of walking shoes plus cleats I keep in my car. If I have to go somewhere that's really icy I can just slip them on. Of course, when you reach a non-icy surface you have to take them off and put on regular shoes. Though, full disclosure, I very rarely go out if its really icy, cleats or not, taking the chance of a fall just isn't worth it.
