Description

Please join us for "Celebrating Music at Mayo Featuring Lewis Lipnick and Friends: A Reprise

You won’t want to miss the world premieres of “Ethereal”, “La Escueta”, “Tango for Two”, and “Dr. Tango Concerto”, composed exclusively for this concert by world renowned Argentinian composer Noelia Escalzo.

This free concert is open to Mayo Clinic staff, patients and the community. This event is made possible through the generosity of the Jerry and Sonja Wenger Endowment for Humanities in Medicine.

“Music is an international language that transcends all cultural barriers, soothes the body and soul, and can help us better deal with life’s stresses,” according to Lewis Lipnick, Principal Contrabassoonist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Lipnick sees a parallel between the orchestra, where musicians combine their various talents to bring music to life, and Mayo Clinic, where the care providers and allied health staff work together to provide the world’s best medical care.

The ensemble of musicians performing with Mr. Lipnick include Mayo Clinic employees J. Michael Bostwick, M.D. (clarinet), Psychiatry; Mimi Tung (piano), Development; Allen Bishop, M.D. (oboe), Orthopedic Surgery; Matt Schuelke (French horn), Graduate Student; Tiffany Strande (violin), Pulmonary Function Technician; as well as, Elizabeth William Gomoll (flute), flutist for the Rochester Symphony; and Rochester native Thomas Hiniker (heckelphone), founder and owner of Hiniker Woodwinds. The ensemble will be conducted by Jere Lantz, President/CEO and Artistic Director of Rochester Symphony.

Gonda Building, Landow Atrium

Hi @marciahenry
I see that it is not possible to add another person to the registration after you have already registered. That is something we need to fix with the registration process. Thanks for pointing out the issue.

In the meantime, here's what you can do to register more people:
1. Go to REVIEW MY SIGNUP (grey button).
2. Click "Cancel my registration".
3. Tick the box "Yes, I want to cancel my registration." and click CANCEL REGISTRATION.
4. Click SIGNUP NOW button (green)
5. Select "I'm registering multiple people".
6. Choose how many people you are registering and enter their names and email addresses.
7. Click COMPLETE REGISTRATION.

If you have any further questions or run into problems, please send me a message using this form: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/contact-a-community-moderator/

Attended this event in the past and was very moved by Mr. Lipnick's performance and the compositions by Ms. Escalzo. So much talent Mayo Clinic has among their employees, as well. Will invitations to play ever be extended to Mayo Chamber Orchestra members? It would seem fitting to include some of them in such a notable event as Mayo Clinic's name is attached to the ensemble. This group has a decades-long legacy connected to Mayo Clinic and includes some talented members.

Hi Jane,

This is an excellent suggestion and while this concert is open to the public, in the future we will add the Chamber Orchestra to our distribution. I did follow up off line via email with you, so we can discuss further.

Thank you,

Sarah
